'PANDORA' is inspired by the work titled 'Pandora 2' by Jules Joseph Lefebvre, from 1872.
Pandora is an artificial construct created by Hephaestus and blessed by the other Gods of Olympus. Her name means 'All-Gift' (from Pan-All, and Dora-Gift). She was sent by Zeus to punish mortals (again) by bringing them a jar filled with evil. Later interpretations translated the jar into a 'box', which is what we commonly know today.
I was really inspired by Lefebvre's design of Pandora, but I wanted to change up a few things, especially her expression who now has a more youthful look. The background is also changed a little, with more of a striking colour pointing perhaps to the underground forge where she was created, or to Hades. The spikes on her box also came to me from literally the unconscious, and I thought they would be fascinating additions.
